Laser technology

Optoma laser projectors use high-quality lasers to create the projected image. In many situations the perceived brightness from laser illumination projectors can be twice that of an equivalent lamp-based model. They also deliver increased efficiency to maintain consistent brightness, superior colour performance, instant on/off and an extraordinary life span of up to 30,000 hours.

Laser technology

4K UHD Resolution

With over eight million pixels, Ultra HD 4K resolution brings four times more detail than Full HD, to deliver sharper, life-like images and richer colours - allowing you to sit closer to the screen and enjoy a more immersive experience.

HDR compatible

Capable of receiving and displaying HDR meta data, Optoma HDR compatible projectors allow you to see far more detail and texture. Objects look more solid and life like and the extra detail creates a greater sense of depth. It’s like looking through a window.

Amazing colours

Amazing colours

Watch your movies, TV shows and play games with stunning colours in any environment. Optoma projectors provide reliable performance suitable for any content and environment. Our home projectors are capable of reproducing the Rec.709 colour gamut, the international HDTV standard to guarantee accurate reproduction of cinematic colour exactly as the director intended. Or more saturated colours for a punchy looking image, great for gaming and animated movies.

Vertical Lens Shift

Simplify installation with vertical lens shift, which provides a wider range of projector placement possibilities. This makes it easier to position the projector in your room and enables a wider range of screen size options.

Using sophisticated frame-interpolation technology, advanced motion control processing eliminates motion blurring or image judder, even in high-speed action sequences.

This technology ensures all the information contained in an image is faithfully reproduced on the screen giving a stunning crystal clear, pin-sharp picture.

Colour Management System (CMS)

Display accurate lifelike colours to best match your viewing environment. This unique feature provides you with the flexibility to fine-tune the colour settings for optimal precision.

Most movies are shot at 24 frames per second (fps). To preserve the purity of the original image, Optoma projectors can accept high definition sources at 24 fps to display movies exactly as the director intended.

Optoma is on a roll, producing another striking 4K HDR performer for the money

We fire up the UHZ65 and are met with an immediately likeable 4K HDR picture that is a stickler for detail and a dazzler with colours.

As the screen fills with colour, the Optoma does justice to director Edgar Wright’s exhilarating homage to ‘90s heist movies.

But it also tackles the difficult task of being grounded when it comes to delivering skin tones and the mundane cityscape. It nails the balance between punch and precision to such a degree we feel inclined to play every Wes Anderson movie through it.

Optoma confidently offers big-screen thrills. And, thanks to laser technology, those thrills are bound to last.

All Things Tech

This is an incredible home cinema projector.

It delivers the most incredible contrast ratio. With this projector it is 2,000,000:1.  And that added to the lumens of 3,000 gives you the most perfect picture that I personally have seen on any projector that I have ever tested.

Overall you are seeing what is an incredible picture. The image that it produces is just the very very best we have ever seen on any projector – and something you have to see in person to appreciate.

This has to be one of the best projectors that is available currently.

September 2018

When it comes to projectors, you need to go laser if you want the best picture possible.  But buying this kind of cinema-quality tech has always been the reserve of the really rich … until the UHZ65 arrived.

This projector blows the mind with its HDR pictures, the laser system creating deep blacks and vibrant colours.  The 4K image is also packed with detail. It’s not too large either, so you won’t need to create a whole cinema space just to accommodate it.

“The most successful feature of the UHZ65 is the color and contrast management,  you get a nearly a perfect result with a few clicks, the price for the performance given is very good"

If we look at the Optoma against the existing 4K DLP projectors on the market then it is clearly the best we have seen to date, given the improved black levels and colour gamut.

The other strength of DLP is brightness and the UHZ65 is an excellent choice for a normal living room environment with light coloured surfaces and some ambient light spill (just not directly on screen).

To date this is the best 4K DLP projector we have seen

The UHZ65 is particularly quiet, it can display 24p without any jolt. It has a good way of dealing with colors, with nice liveliness, without it being too much. The projector displays great quality (in DLP) : real blacks and a great contrast.

February 2018

Highly sharp thanks to Laser technique! Therefore the Optoma UHZ65 is a real threat for Sony and JVC. Thanks to its rich brightness for SDR and HDR sources as well as high contrast values, the Optomas Laser DLP deserves a lot of praise. In addition, the quiet and extremely durable UHZ65 collects many points in practice as well as in our visual test.

Home Cinema Choice
January 2018

"Overall, this is a cracking, credible high-end home cinema projector. I suspect once you’ve gone laser, you’ll not want to go back."

"the picture performance of the UHZ65 is on the right side of gorgeous. The image is tack-sharp. Like its UHD65 stablemate, the projector is built around TI’s XPR (eXpanded Pixel Resolution) DMD."

"4K content is obviously this PJ's strength, but image quality with HD sources is good too."

January 2018

“Optoma is on a roll with the UHZ65 and has fully exhausted the chassis of the recently launched cheaper UHD projector. Particularly successful is the color and contrast management, so that you get an almost perfect image. Experts will be very happy about the abundant possibilities for fine tuning.”

January 2018

Picture clarity is outstanding. The projector employs an XPR 0.67” DMD device, which uses hyper-fast switching to create a 4K (8 million pixel) image from 4.15 million mirrors. It’s not exactly native 4K, but it’s as near as dammit. We certainly haven’t seen our Ultra HD Blu-rays look any more noticeably sharper.

Sharper, brighter better – the UHZ65 is the most exciting home theatre projector we’ve seen all year.

The UHZ65 brings dazzling laser clarity to the world of projection.

October 2017

"The Optoma UHZ65 is the culmination of years of design iterations, engineering and testing to bring the highest quality home cinema projector to market for a price that consumers can afford".
